I've worked in various forms of engagement roles for corporates and non-profits for about a zillion years now and there are two pātai I've been asked constantly through that time. The first is "Hey I've got a great idea - shall we re-brand?". Short answer is: yeah, nah. Probably not. Long answer is out there in one thousand books about self-centred CEOs, CMOs and (in the case of Aotearoa) Prime Ministers who want to put "successfully re-branded [x] company/organisation/country" on their CV. The second thing people ask me constantly is "how do we achieve/increase community engagement?"Short answer is: ⬇ This.⬇⬇ This stuff right here.⬇⬇⬇ This is how you achieve/increase community engagement.

It was an honor to be present to see the board at work, present the Momentum participants/graduates barriers and the “how” breaking barriers can change lives through education and employment. The insight & knowledge from these professionals is why we are able to assist individuals in transforming their lives, supporting graduates as they see their future forward, meeting workforce needs and educating industry leaders. #OneCityUnited#employment #educationwww.onecitycv.org

What do you think of when you imagine a "home"? "...slums are a constant reminder and indicator of the failures of our society and its systems. And we are trying to find quick solutions to remove them from view. But look just a little bit closer, you will find resilient and vibrant communities. So, when we set out to transform these spaces. Are we creating systems and processes that actually respond to their lived experiences and respects the resilience’s that come out as a result. And before we go into these homes and try to change and transform them, let’s take a moment, step back and ask them. What do you think of when you imagine a home?" A wonderful #tedx talk by Community Design Agency managing director Sandhya Naidu Janardhan. On reimagining slums into safe, healthy, even more vibrant places by engaging and collaborating with those most impacted --the residents. This is not about "housing." It is about transforming entire communities, tapping into the robust social infrastructure already present. We all need human connection, so why not design for that?Of course, great design also needs planning, engineering, financing and more. CDA provides high quality professional services, resulting in robust, attractive, climate resilient structures that will last for generations. Reach out if you want to learn more!

Uplift, Empower, Unite: Mary McLean for a Brighter Sault Tribe Future📢 Attention Sault Tribe members!📢It's time for a crucial conversation about our tribe's future. Our employees are the backbone of our community, yet they're feeling undervalued, overworked, and underappreciated. It's unacceptable that they're being treated as expendable resources. As a candidate for the Unit One board seat, I'm committed to advocating for change. Retention should be a top priority for the Sault Tribe Board of Directors. We can't afford to lose valuable team members due to neglect and disregard.Recruitment is important, but retention is paramount. We can't afford the time and resources it takes to fill vacancies caused by high turnover rates. We need policies that empower our leadership to retain dedicated team members, not just recruit new ones.If elected, I will fight for better recruitment and retention strategies. I will work to develop policies that allow negotiation with team members considering other opportunities. Let's show our appreciation for those who have dedicated their time and talent to the Sault Tribe.Together, we can build a stronger, more supportive community. Chi Miigwetch for your support. #SaultTribe #RetentionMatters #VoteForChange 🌟
