Finishing fourth out of 89 cars in the #BajaSAE Williamsport endurance race, our #Wildcat Baja Team has achieved their 15th top-10 finish in the endurance race since 2011! 🏁 🏁 “I am very proud of the team and their performance,” said John Upcraft, instructor of manufacturing and machining and faculty adviser to Penn College’s Baja SAE club since its inception 19 years ago. “It’s difficult to put into words how hard they’ve worked to produce a car that proved to be one of the best in the competition. I truly believe the hands-on nature of our educational approach at #PennCollege allows our students to meet the high standard to be successful at Baja competitions.”Learn about the months-long preparation our team put into the international competition here: https://bit.ly/3yxmPFm#Baja #BajaWIlliamsport #PCTBaja

We are proud to have been notified of our Tree Campus Higher Learning designation! 🌲🌲 To celebrate our designation, students planted beautiful Japanese snowbell and Snow Foundation weeping cherry trees at our Schneebeli Earth Science Center in honor of Arbor Day.Founded in 2008, Tree Campus Higher Education strives to foster a tradition of excellence and recognize green colleges and universities that live up to the standards of the committee, which include having a campus tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures, observing Arbor Day, and creating a service-learning project aimed at engaging the student body. In addition to highlighting the physical and mental health benefits of green spaces, the Tree Campus program seeks to support colleges and universities in growing their community forests and educating the next generation on the importance of caring for the environment. At Penn College, this green initiative is a collaborative effort of the landscape/plant production technology and forest technology majors and the college’s General Services horticulturists and foresters. The college offers associate of applied science degrees in both disciplines.#ArborDay #PennCollege #SchneebeliEarthScience Center #Landscaping #PlantProduction #ForestTechnology #Horticulture #Forestry

#STEMFest 2024 brought over 275 middle schoolers to our campus to celebrate #engineering and #technicalcareers. Throughout the day, students were able to take part in interactive, STEM-centered activities and workshops based in a variety of areas ranging from #programming to creating electrical circuits. “This is a fantastic opportunity for these kids. I think it’s going to be great for them to have the exposure to the different programs offered here,” said Kurt Eck, a science teacher for St. Joseph School in Danville. “They think of engineering as being one thing, and they are already getting exposure to how engineering encompasses so many different fields.”Learn more about the day here: https://bit.ly/4bmuu7w#PennCollege #STEM

Recently, we helped support the visit of Seventeen students from Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School in Coal Township to SEKISUI KYDEX in Bloomsburg. There, students learned more about polymer engineering, manufacturing, and how the company continues to set the standard for proficiency in their industry. “Through our ongoing collaboration with Pennsylvania College of Technology, we are empowering the next generation of innovators and problem solvers,” said Sean Stabler, vice president of innovation for Sekisui Kydex. Stabler received Penn College’s Distinguished Alumni Award last spring. He earned a bachelor’s degree in plastics & polymer engineering technology in 2006 and an associate degree in plastics & polymer technology in 2004.Our support for the trip was made possible through a #PAsmart grant we were fortunate to receive last year.
