Recently, researchers at the University of Colorado School of Medicine were asked to share their best advice on building a successful research career. This includes Wendy Kohrt, PhD, a distinguished professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Ludeman Center researcher. Since September 1999, Dr. Kohrt has been awarded more than $43 million as a principal investigator or program director, more than $7 million as a sponsor for an NIH research career development award, and more than $5 million as a core director of the Colorado Nutrition Obesity Research Center. https://lnkd.in/gMBM6wba

Ludeman Center researchers recently published a paper in the Journal for Women’s Health Research that calls attention to how doctors can better diagnose and treat coronary heart disease (CHD) in women — particularly when it comes to the diagnosis of a heart attack. As we head into #AlzheimersandBrainAwareness Month, we reflect on the excellent research that has contributed to our understanding of dementia and potential treatments. The Ludeman Center is proud to have funded Kim Bruce, PhD, whose research focuses on understanding how changes in brain metabolism drive neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis. Her goal is to design new strategies that restore metabolism to mitigate the disease that disproportionately affects women. https://lnkd.in/gBRsdmdn
