Fanatec F1 24 wheel settings

Fanatec is one of the most popular sim racing brands with a wide range of racing wheels. All of their wheels are compatible with F1 24. It is important to ensure your racing wheel matches the platform you are racing on. For example, the CSL DD is only Xbox and PC compatible, whereas the GT DD Pro offers PlayStation compatibility.

When setting up a Fanatec racing wheel in F1 24, you have two sets of force feedback settings that you can change. The first are the settings in F1 24 that include the on track, off track and kerb effects.

You then have a further set of adjustments that can be made using either the Fanatec Control Panel on PC, or accessed via the tuning menu on your steering wheel. For each of our recommended Fanatec settings below, you will see the tuning menu settings along with our recommendation for the F1 24 settings.

If you wish to learn about a specific racing wheel in more detail, we do have individual settings guides for the most popular sim racing brands. In each of these guides we run through our recommended settings for F1 24, and show you why we have recommended specific settings. We break down each setting and look at how adjusting it affects specific racing wheels for a more comprehensive look at how to set up each racing wheel.

You can find each individual F1 24 wheel settings guide using the quick links below.

How to set up a racing wheel in F1 24

Setting up a third-party peripheral, such as a racing wheel, can sometimes be a little trickier than it should be. Some racing wheels require you to download specific software, and some may not have preset configurations in F1 24 at launch.

It is essential to ensure that your wheel is up-to-date and correctly set up in F1 24; otherwise, you may experience issues such as inputs not working or the force feedback behaving strangely.

Below is a quick how-to guide on how to set up any racing wheel in F1 24. Follow this process every time you set up a new racing wheel in F1 24 to ensure everything is working correctly and recognised in game.

  1. Mount and connect your racing wheel

The first step is to set up your racing wheel. Mount it to a sim rig or a desk, connect it to your console or PC and power it on.

  2. Download software and update the firmware for your racing wheel (PC only)

If you are racing F1 24 on a PC, you must almost always download the relevant software to ensure your wheel works. Each brand has its own software, which is always free to download. I’d recommend visiting the support website for your racing wheel, downloading and installing this software, and then checking if any firmware updates are available for your racing wheel. This is important if you are racing on PC, as some wheels may need updating to work with newer games, including F1 24.

  3. Enter our recommended wheel settings (via software or wheel directly)

If you are racing F1 24 on PC, you can normally change wheel settings directly through the included software. If so, we have included the relevant settings in our guide above. Copy these into your wheel’s software before starting F1 24. With some wheels such as Fanatec, you can also change these same settings via the racing wheel directly, meaning even if you are racing on a console, you can change these settings via your racing wheel’s screen.

  4. Update your F1 24 force feedback settings

With everything updated and working, you should start up F1 24 and head into the force feedback settings. In here, copy our recommended settings above for your specific wheel to complete the set up process.

  5. Change any button mapping in F1 24

You can also change your button configuration within F1 24. This lets you set up your racing wheel exactly how you like it and gives you the chance to change specific inputs on your racing wheel.

How to change force feedback settings in F1 24

You can change any of the force feedback settings recommended above via the vibration and force feedback settings screen in F1 24. This can be accessed from the main menu or the pause menu if you are on track.

There aren’t too many settings to change in F1 24, but it is worth going through each one and optimising it to really get the best force feedback from your wheel.

Many sim racing wheels have additional settings you can change through the racing wheel’s screen or via software installed on a PC. I have included the recommended settings for any wheel with additional settings available, and it is essential to change these as well. Often, the settings available directly through a wheel’s software allow you to change more complex settings and can have a big impact on your overall wheel’s performance.

Overview

Our recommended wheel settings have been tested and created specifically for individual racing wheels. I’d highly recommend using the wheel settings above designed for the racing wheel you’re using in F1 24. For the best results, use both the in-game force feedback setting recommendations and your racing wheels software settings.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need to calibrate a racing wheel in F1 24?

F1 24 has a calibration menu where you can adjust various settings. You do not need to go through a calibration process in the same way that other games, such as iRacing. Instead, F1 24 lets you manually change calibration settings, such as the deadzones and input ranges, to help you fix any issues you may be having.

Why do I need different settings for different racing wheels?

All racing wheels are designed to perform differently. For example, Fanatec wheels use very different technology from Logitech racing wheels, meaning one group of settings may not work well on a different wheel. Because of this, we have produced recommended force feedback settings individually to get the most out of every wheel.

Do direct drive racing wheels work in F1 24?

Premium direct drive racing wheels are supported in F1 24, meaning you can use a high-powered wheel such as the Fanataec ClubSport DD or the Asetek Forte wheels. You need to ensure you are using the wheel with the correct platform. For example, Asetek racing wheels are only compatible with F1 24 on PC.
