DRS® 540 Needle Microneedle Derma Roller (10 Needle Lengths Available) (2024)

The DRS 540 needle derma roller is our mostpopular and convenient size. Its standard width allows large areas to be treated in only a short amount of time, whilst also allowing the treatment ofsmaller and more delicate parts.

If you are new to microneedling this roller is a good choice. For customers who are more experienced, you may wish to consider an automatic microneedling pen such as theDr. Pen A9.

What Is Microneedling?

In short, microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy, a factually proven treatment for a wide range of skin conditions ranging from minor skin wrinkles to deep stretch marks. The DRS derma roller comes in 10 different needle length sizes and therefore is able to treat the full range of skin problems.

The roller itself uses tiny needles or micro-needleswhich create tiny, evenly-spaced puncture wounds on the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural collagen production by generating a wound healing response. The roller is much like a fine tattooing needle, so it should cause minimal trauma when creating the microscopic punctures in the skin. By damaging the skin you encourage the body to produce new collagen and elastin, which helps it thicken and plump up.

There is a minimal healing process, although you should expect your skin to take on a red tinge for a short time if you’re using longer lengths (this is largely due to blood being pumped to the area to repair and rebuild the skin).

What Skin Conditions Can Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling has been proven to treat a number of different skin problems, such as:

  • Wrinkles
  • Skin tightness
  • Scarring
  • Burns
  • Stretch marks
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Hypopigmentation
  • Sagging skin
  • Sun damage

It's also been used as a method of rejuvenating hair growth.

Is This Scientifically Proven?

Yes, a number of studies have been done on microneedling over the past few years (and decades even). For instance, check out this study done on stretch marks (stretch marks are also referred to as striae distensae).

Which Needle Length Should I Choose?

Choosing the correct needle length is very important when it comes to treating your skin condition. There's no point in using a short 0.20mm derma roller on deep stretch marks, as the needles won't penetrate far enough into the skin to reach the actual skin damage. On the other hand, you shouldn't use a 3.00mm derma roller on wrinkles, as you'll be causing a lot more skin trauma than is required.

Check out our guide which will advise you on which needle length you require.

Is Stainless Steel or Titanium Better?

It's not as simple as one being better than the other.

Stainless steel needles tend to be sharper, to begin with at least, because stainless steel is an easier metal alloy to sharpen into a point. Stainless steel is also inherently more sterile, which can be important seeing as you'll be using it on your body.

Titanium needles are slightly less sharp to begin with because it's harder to work titanium into a point. However, the needles will last far longer and will maintain the sharpness they began withdue to the strength that titanium has.

We currently only sell products using titanium needles because we don't think stainless steel is required. There should be no real benefit to hygiene as you should be disinfecting your roller before and after every use. Furthermore, the increased sharpness of stainless steel is not enough to make up for the fact that a stainless steel roller must be discarded after only 1 or 2 uses, whilst a titanium roller can continue to be usedup to5 times.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Sterilize the roller head prior to use.
  2. Firmly (but not aggressively) roll your skin 4 to 8 times in total. Left to right, then top to bottom, then diagonally both ways.
  3. Clean your roller once finished.

We recommend that you apply a skin rejuvenation cream before and/or after the treatment.Hyaluronic acid is a safe and effective option. We recommend you do not use any retinoid products with microneedling as they can be harsh on the skin.

For more detailed instructions on how to use the derma roller, please check out our online guides.

It is recommended to replace the roller frequently as the needles become blunt through use. Actual life of the needles depends on the size of the area treated, as well as the length of needle used. For example: A large area (e.g. inner thigh) with a longer needle will allow for 1 or 2 uses. A small area (e.g. one cheek) with a short needle (e.g. 0.30mm) will allow for 4 or 5 uses.

Change of Mind Returns & Warranty:

If upon receiving your order you are undecided about using it, please do not open the packaging. We can accept returns for products which remain sealed, but, for health reasons anything opened from its sealed packaging cannot be returned (as we cannot resell it). Upon return we will refund your order in full. This applies to change of mind returns.

The device also comes with a one year warranty starting from the date of delivery. In case of a warranty claim we will replace or refund at our expense. Please note that this is partly a consumable product - the needles become blunt through use - and the warranty does not cover this aspect. The warranty covers defects (e.g. the handle breaks whilst in use) and damage in transit (e.g. the product arrives broken).
